What to do when your Pinterest Monthly Views are dropping?

Are your monthly views suddenly dropping?

So...It has happened to you too, the dreaded traffic drop! But what happened? You’ve worked so hard on your Pinterest marketing and now the numbers are declining and your views seem to vanish in thin air! You’ve certainly asked yourself, what are you doing wrong? Makes you think are your pins even visible to Pinterest users?

Questions, questions… To find the answers you must keep up with the latest Pinterest news of course! In 2020 Pinterest changed their game concerning the content, shall we say, they gave fresh content pins a chance to see the light instead of spinning the same old pin song. And it really can be discouraging at times, making many of you think if it is worthy to continue. But think about this, Pinterest changed this algorithm in order to keep users interested longer, to have more fresh content presented to them, so how can you use this to your advantage? How can you fight your way out of this Pinterest traffic drop 2020?

Let’s ditch the old way of doing things and have a look at these tips to elevate your Pinterest game!

10 Tips to keep your monthly views drop in check

The traffic drop can be a nuisance for your business but if you follow these tips, you will be out of the muddy waters for good!

Tip 1.
Always, and I mean ALWAYS be sure to include relevant descriptions to your pins, with all the relevant keywords. This is the bread and butter of your pin. Being descriptive will help people visualize how your pin will help them. Never underestimate the power of pin descriptions because they always work in your favor even behind the curtains!

Tip 2.
The second mandatory thing you must always have in mind is to link your pins to the relevant webpage URL. Website traffic drop may occur if you have broken, irrelevant, and invalid links. When everything is nicely linked, your pins get a better chance for discoverability.

Tip 3.
If people are saving content from your website, make sure you’ve included relevant descriptions to go along with those saves! Again, it is all about being descriptive and using keywords connected to your content, so when people save them directly from your web, the pin will automatically have an optimized description.

Tip 4.
What always stops the monthly views drop is using Rich Pins! They give more information to Pinterest - thus higher engagement!

Tip 5.
Are you doing that thing again? Re-pinning popular pins to old boards? Using the Smartloop feature? Let me stop you right there. If you are battling Pinterest traffic drop 2020, it is wise to create new boards and pin them to those new boards, so you can provide something even mildly fresh to the table!

Tip 6.
We got to the point of fresh content that is a guaranteed shield against the website traffic drop, pin NEW images with links to NEW pages. It is also of course ok to pin NEW images to OLD links, but never ok to pin OLD images to OLD links! Got that checked? Good, let’s continue.

Tip 7.
Do not overdo it with pinning! Make sure you are pinning 25 pins daily tops! That goes also for your new content, don’t pin 20 posts for the same blog, instead, consider creating different formats (regular pin, video pin, Pinterest story) and different templates so you can spread your content without being spammy, still being presented as fresh content.

Tip 8.
Are the designs of your pins becoming ancient? Change that, it is handy to use different Templates, then also handy to use different Titles and Descriptions! Refresh your pins with something new added to their overall presence.

Tip 9.
Use VIDEO Pins! And I cannot stress this enough! Pinterest specifies that 4% of the user feed must contain video pins! It doesn’t matter whether that user watches them, the videos will be in the feed. Use this! Videos are trending everywhere now, and it is the safest weapon to fight the Pinterest traffic drop 2020. These pins bring the most discoverability and engagement which means anyone who is interested in learning more will click through your website!

Tip 10.
Story Pins! The newest feature must be used to its fullest! Even though there are no URL options here, it is like an Instagram story, but why use them? This tool is now of high priority and it is essential to harvest its potential! Like regular stories, you have a few seconds to present your content and capture the user's attention - think deeply about what to present to them in order to have their focus in your grasp! Another handy tip: If you think you have fitting IG story/reels content, re-purpose them for Story Pins!
